Have a Takamine EG560C - the pickup is shot and its time for a replacement.

Enstead of getting a Takamine replacement pickup I was wondering if an LR Baggs pickup would be any better.

I'm using an LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI for recording and I've heard their acoustic pickups are really good and well matched to the para acoustic DI.

While some of the pickups used in the Takamines have been decent, it's hard to surpass an L.R. Baggs pickup. The bluegrass/folk band Nickel Creek uses LR Baggs pickups in their guitars and mandolins. Bluegrass musicians generally require such an accurate sound that they will mic their instruments when playing live. When I went to one of their concerts, I was completely blown away by the sound of their instruments, to the point where I was sure they were internally mic'ed, but the band confirmed that they used only the bridge pickups. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

As a rule I hate all under saddle or saddle integrated pickups *except* the lr baggs element active - it responds to vibration instead of pressure so you don't get nasty peaks like from piezo pickups it's as close to a mic as i've come across. - you can pick em up on ebay pretty cheap (mine came from china)

Oh yeah and the dinky volume control is the business
