hey all, i have an AT4040 and a Blue Baby Bottle, connected to a Roland MMP-2, lined into a edirol UA-25. I wanted to replace the UA-25 and i was thinking of the focusrite saffire. how are the converters on the saffire compared to the UA-25? will i hear a significant difference in clarity ? also if I im not satisfied with the pres on the saffire, can i replace the preamp with possibly a GT Brick or Tampa, and can i connect it to the saffire? i appreciate any info.

I would hope that the Saffire's preamp would be good considering that Focusrite is all about preamps. I'm not sure you're going to be able to notice a ton of difference between the Edirol and the Saffire, though. You can turn the preamps all the way down on the Saffire and put something else in front of it. I use the preamps on my Mackie mixer in front of the preamps on my interface in the same manner and it works great.
