Was thinking about replacing with the USB Omni Studio but i realized its only USB1. What do people think of the Firewire 410? Also, is there any cheap way I can use its digital SPDIF with analog sources? Anyone have any suggestions?

The firewire 410 was on sale this weekend at guitar center for $249 so I got one.

I finally figured it out tonight. I think it's great. Sounds great and the software mixer is very flexible and I am still learning how to use it.

One important note. If you use a laptop, M-audio readme notes says that this card will NOT work with a 1394 chipset from NEC.

I emailed them for specific card recommendations.

I have an NEC chipset card and the interface did not work. In my new Dell laptop, I have a TI chipset and it works great.

I will be switching to a less capable laptop (my old work machine).

I asked m-audio for PCMCIA firewire cards that definately work with the 410 and here is the respnse.

Firewire Adapters

PCMIA CARDBUS

I'm really looking forward to NYC getting a Guitar Center this weekend.
