Rendering @96k

There once was a note
I recently heard that when recording at 96k you have to do a real-time export-import so that the wav. file goes through the sound card and back into your mix to be a true 96k.

1. Is that true?

2. Would exporting your entire mix (of all your wav.) realtime down to a stereo mix file @ (96k) accomplish the same thing, or must each track be done and the mix also?

Never heard of it. Although I understand there are a few programs out there that render in real-time... But even then, it's not going through a pitch/catch routine.

Huh, Thanks,

Yeah my Ozone 5 has to render in real time, but Cubase doesnt, strange I did a test and couldnt really hear any difference, I think if you add effects it may matter because the program is using its 32bit floating point, but it doesnt make much sense that the wav isnt recorded at 96k to begin with.

Thanks for your help.
