Removing Fade Applied to Whole Song

I have done a bonehead thing. Before I knew enough about fade-outs to use them properly, I applied one to the entire song in Sonar 3. So, my song fades out from start to finish. Not good.

How do I remove the fade from the entire song, so I can apply it to the last few measures?

Answers should be comprehensible to a Sonar novice.

Thanks.

Was it destructive, or did you use the slip-edit fade tool?

If it was destructive, you're pretty much fucked. (Was that comprehensible enough? :D)

Just kidding, I can feel your pain. :(

Sonar 3.1.1 SE.

I was just told by Sonar that since I applied the fade destructively, there's nothing I can do.

Guess I won't do that again.

One of the great things about Sonar is that you can do "almost" everything non-destructively (assuming you have sufficient computer horsepower). You should make sure you always use the non-destructive approach, since as you have learned, destructive edits are permanent.

Even when you do a destructive edit, it can be reversed using the Undo command - PROVIDED you haven't saved (or resaved) the project yet. Once you save a project, destructive edits become irreversable.

As for fades, if you go to the end of track and place your mouse in the upper right hand corner, you will see the cursor turn into a triangle. Click and drag this triangle to the left and you will create a fade envelope for that track. When you don't want the fade anymore, just drag it back it back to the right. That's an example of a non-destructive fade.

You can also do fade-ins in the same manner by going to the beginning of a clip and dragging the triangle to the right.
