You know that sound you get when slide a guiter chord up or down the neck? Can I use remove silance to get rid of it without losing the stuff I want to keep?

Nope ....Remove silence definately won't work. You can try to pull it down using the EQ, but you may end up killing some of your dynamic range. I kinda like that sound anyway. If it's acoustic it usually sounds fairly cool. If it's distorted, it usually gets covered up by other instruments in the mix.

you can get close but its not going to be an exact science.

if the parts you are playing are louder than the hand fret noise, you can set the remove silence parameters to open the gate previous to the strum. the problem is that unless you are playing a time consistent piece, you are going to end up removing the sweet passages right along with the fret noise.

attack time: the time it takes for the gate to fully open

look ahead: how many milliseconds ahead of the actual opening amplitude point where the gate will begin opening.
