My ear is quite fatigued at this point... can someone please tell me if the vocals are sitting ok in this mix? If you're feeling ambitious feel free to pick apart anything else as well.

Oh and a little background info: it's a reggae-rap style song about my friend's Pomeranian/Picanese dog Gus.

just my opinion

Whoever made the track (production), did a pretty good job with the actual music and instrumentation. But I hope and I pray the artist never "gigs" around some real jamaicans or rastafarians, 'cause they/he will NOT make it out alive!! That is a very poor excuse for a reggae accent, and let me tell you; jamaicans are very personal and touchy about "faking" their music/culture. So inform the artist (vocalist) to be very careful!

As far as the overall sound goes in the mixing area; whoever did the mix (especially the instrumental), did really good. The music mix itself is vibrant, dynamic, and aurally pristine. The instruments are very clear, and jumps out at you, Good job.

As far as the "marriage" between the music and the vocals; The vocs seem just a tad "cloudy", or maybe low. Some spots its hard to hear him clearly, but by no means bad, at all.

Sorry I should have mentioned also this is a comedic track and the rapper is my friend who was well aware of his inability to fake a jamaican accent before recording. We decided to go with it anyway--since this is more of a light hearted production.

As for the vocals--I think you're right on with the "cloudy" description. I just needed someone to confirm it. I'm going to put some EQ on and maybe raise them a touch. I'll post the edit soon. Thanks.

OK. I'm "hip", now!

You can just ignore all the things i said about the "vocalist" then. It makes it all different now that i know its for comedic purposes. Good work. I was just a little worried, 'cause you'll be surprised how many links ive went to, and heard music that SHOULDA' been for comedic purposes, but THOSE artists made it seem like they believed they were the next coming of Burt Bacharach! (hope i spelled that right)

Hope you get what your looking for. Good Music!
(That's my way of saying "Good luck" ;) )

Gave the vox some presence:

Both the original and the edited versions are up.

I know what you mean. I should have pointed out that fact straight away. I put Miss Cleo in there as kind of a reminder of the comedic nature of our culture's tendency to imitate the Jamaican culture. (If you recall, Miss Cleo was actually an actress from Los Angeles faking a Jamaican accent). Therein lies the irony.
