Does anyone use them for recording other sources apart from vocals?

I've been using one on guitar/ukulele and the recordings sound a little too clean if anything .. I record in my basement with a fair amount of room treatment.

If you have good room sound, there's no reason to use a reflection filter. Clean is not bad when it comes to recording acoustic instruments - you can always add reverb, delay and/or saturation.

you use them when you want to isolate ANYTHING from the room sound.

do not use them if you are looking for room sound.

works on any source.

I've wondered about using them to isolate two sources (i.e. recording guitar and vocal at the same time and using the RF above the guitar mike...). I never do, but I think it would work for those who do.

Interesting idea. I'm sure it's not the ideal isolation, but it might be better than nothing. If somebody's got one, and they're having a problem with bleed, it wouldn't hurt to try.

How well do they work (on vocals)? Are some better than others?

They work pretty well - I have a couple that I rarely use any more. Make things artificially dry sounding which I found a bit counter-productive sometimes.
