Hi y'all,

I'm in the stage of buying my first 'real' monitor speakers, and was actively looking at powered speakers, but then my eye fell on the Event 20/20passive + Samson Audio Servo 260 combination, which'll cost me
(1255-(466+255)=) €534 (=$522) less then the 20/20bas version..

Could I go wrong with that combination ? I saw Samson quite a few times in some smaller studios, ...

Any remarks/comments ??

Thx, Herwig

The Samson stuff is relatively inferior, but usable........ you'd be better of with some flavour of Hafler - P1500 or even better, P3000.... even the Hafler TA-series will outperform the Samson at roughly the same price..........

Hmm... thanks for the comment.

Someone told me today the amps of active monitors are better adjusted to their speakers, so matching a pair of passive speakers with an amp could give issues ?? Or would a Hafler 1500 do with most speakers ?

I didn't want to go above the $750 mark, but it seems I can't without losing too much quality. (and in addition, prices in Europe are not comparable to the US, everything costs about a third more :( )

Herwig

The Hafler P-series are excellent... and will have no trouble powering small nearfields.............

How about Harman Kardon? They're availible at nice prices in Europe...

Hey, Bear - "Which would you choose; someone with a 50/50 smattering of knowledge and very polite, or 97% accuracy and blunt?" - (from your location info)

Why have to choose, when I know absolutely EVERYTHING, and am EXTREMELY polite? (Did I mention that I also don't even CARE where the rocks are when I'm walking on water?)

(hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe...)

:=))))

BTW, was looking at some old posts, caught your last name - When you compose, is it usually around the Valerian root?

Sorry, the whole day has been silly, musta caught up with me... Steve

heh-heh......... funny! ;)

That is my favorite quote -- written by none other than Harvey Gerst....

I read it years ago and it always stuck with me for some reason...........!
