Rockin' & Rollin'
Hey all,
I'm looking for a stand for my MSR-16. I know that Tascam made one specifically for it, but I haven't been able to find any.

Right now, I'm looking at the Quik-Lok QL-400 from Musicians' Friend and music123.com.

This stand is supposed to be able to handle analog multitrack recorders, but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it, or could point me to a similar functioning product.

Thank you,
-MD

Don't do it!

I don't know what the MSR-16 weighs; but that thing can barely carry a TSR-8. If you actually put a reel of tape on the machine too, you'll have exceeded the design spec.

Try and get a nice mixer rack, make sure that it can handle at least 40kg (assuming the MSR-16 is 35kg like the TSR-8).

This is what I did: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=190316

The Quiklok RS-658 can take up to 90kg and should be perfect, although it's rather pricey. I'm sure there must be something in between - just make sure it can handle the full weight of the recorder.

The most difficult bit is the rack ears. I bought some intended for a Soundcraft Spirit mixer - had to drill new holes in it, but it was close enough. Proper Tascam ones on ebay cost more than the trolley did.

I've actually got the Tascam rack ears, when I bought the MSR-16 they were already installed on it.

The MSR-16 is a bit heavier than the TSR-8. If the Tascam rack can't handle the TSR-8, then there's no way I'm going for that!

Where did you find the spec on the Quik-lock being able to handle 90 kg? I couldn't find a weight capacity anywhere.

Thanks very much!

man I really need something like that for my fostex. The guy who sold it to me originally had the stand and I told him to take it to the dump instead of ship it to me!! what a mistake!!! Now I really want something but can't seem to find something as sturdy as the original fostex. bah!!

Just for everyone's reference, the Quik-Lok 400 only has a weight capacity of only 80 lbs., according to Musician's Friend. The QL-658 can handle 200 lbs. If I can find one of those, that's probably what I will get.

Thanks everybody,

I am gonna resurrect this one because i would really like to solve it. The reason I dont like the solution present above is because it doesn't allow you to tilt the machine to work on it. if there was a good rack for this I would buy 3 and get rid of the couch in here.

sweet! on the watch list. thanks, man.
Studer also made a similar kind of trolley stand a number of years back only it offered real wood side panels on it where the deck would fit into!

I saw one on ebay a while back for around $250.

Do a Studer/Revox search...you never know what might pop up! :)

Cheers! :)
