Reducing Ambients In My New ROom

Hello:
First time poster here. I just had my basement remodelled and I have a new space for my 'control room'. Dimensions are basicaly 14' long x 10 ' wide x 7.5 feet high. Walls are drywall and insulated. Floor is hardwood, dropped ceiling. I have an area rug that I'll be moving in but I think I'm going to need to do something about some very harsh mids and highs. I'm wondering if one of those Auralex kits for $99 would help.

I had done some research and the room is built for sound. The walls behind my monitors fan out from center toward me to avoid the dreaded bass trap issue. The room is basically not square but I need to do something for those ambients.

Some panels of OC703 would be the most cost effective treatment. Look a few pages back and there are several threads on 'Panels'. A better alternative is a helmoltz resonator of which there are also several threads talking about them.
 
Hi Tony - Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure what you mean by "ambients"... can you explain it better? Also, a drawing of the room layout will help.

By ambients I mean that there is a minor reverberation off all the drywall and hardwood flooring. Not good at all for mixing.
Trying to figure out how to submit a drawing.

Also, what I'm looking for is a cheap way to deaden the room.

Ok I get it now - rigid firberglass seems to be the ticket for my problem. Looks like I may be able to get it at my local Home Depot too!
