Massive Master

www.massivemastering.com
Just did a massive (pardon the pun) design change - Dropped the dark for some "white space" and I think I'm liking it.

Considered dimming the background a bit, but for ease of use, left it white. It's nice to just toss a JPG with a white background up...

I'm assuming that it's "technically" sound... Although it seems a little "sterile" (but maybe it's just the drastic change from before).

Anyway, not planning on any serious deviation from this new design anytime soon, but I'd love to hear what y'all think of it...

I think the site looks great, mazel tov and all that...
definitely not too sterile, and considering the amount of information that makes your site wonderful, having a slightly technical look to it fits.

One thought, if I didn't read any of your copy, my first hit to the homepage would lead me to believe that you are a high end speaker manufacturer. I feel very unconstructive saying so, because I don't have a clue as to what would be a better image than what you have, but its something about the way that lays out, I was frantically looking for the "buy it now" button ;)

Cheers

You know, my apprentice said the same thing (or something dreadfully similar) when he first saw it.

Gonna have to look into that... I'm awfully proud of those boxes, but I certainly want it clear - Especially to someone who DOESN'T know ahead of time.

Maybe just a washed-out "watermark" looking photo would grab less attention. I really feel like the pages "needs" something there to break it up a little. Gonna experiment...

Thanks!

I like it. The speaker pic didn't throw me too much because the big headline on the page tells you what you need to know. My only comment on that particular pic is that it stands out a bit much on the white background making it look un-natural. Maybe give it the same effect as the pic on the next page or maybe shadow a background somewhat to make it look like it's part of the room? I don't know. Not that big a deal to me. The site is very informative and easy to get around...that's the bottom line.

My only comment on info would be to maybe give some sort of timeline for projects (a generic one, of course) so people can get an idea of how long it takes to master a project. It's hard enough trying to convince some bands to get CDs mastered because of more time and money. They still think that it can be done at the studio (maybe some can, but I wouldn't try it!). Also maybe a price-guide? Is it priced per song or per project? Did you have this info posted and I just missed it? I know you have the download guide for master prep, but some people are too anxious to download something and they might want to read it in front of them. Of course, I could be blowing smoke, but I'm only offering suggestions.

I only know that if a client asked me a question regarding mastering, I'd like to have some answers for them, or at least direct them to an easy place for answers.

It's all in the menu. And on the top. But you know, you're right. It should be blatant - Especially the rate sheet. I'll see if there's a sentence I can link on the index page...

[UPDATE] Vignetted the monitor photo (very schveet) and linked to the rate page from the text in teh first layout area. [/UPDATE]

I like the look; I wish I could get something that professional looking for Lovelabormusic. What do you design the site in?

Net Objects Fusion 8 - Good stuff. You can get a nice site up before dinner with it. Tweaking it on the other hand... But, I guess that's the same with every design software I've ever used.

On the cool side - Google updated their PageRank last Tuesday and the MM site went up two points! :D

Much better than the old site man. Nice and Clean. User friendly layout. Big improvement. If I had to choose a mastering house based purely on the integrity of thier webpage design :D I would deffinitely go with your new layout as opposed to the old one.

Phew... That's what I like to hear.

It was a weird thing with that page... It's been a pretty good year so far, and I don't like to mess with things if they aren't broken. I probably get 50% of my new clients just through that site in one way or another.

But geez... It just needed a facelift, you know? Drove me nuts. Waited forever just because I didn't have a custom 404 (then I found out that I just needed to adjust a few settings with the host - It's cool - Type in anything... www.massivemastering.com/there_is_no_spoon or something). No more Windows error page (something like 80% of the people who get that don't try to just go to the root site. I don't want to chance that).

Here I go rambling on again...

Very nice!

Geez, I hate to bump... I just changed some interesting flaws in the code... It should display better now, but it won't center in Netscape. Whatever...
