Not a whole lot to say about the song....everyone knows it. It's 3 piece. I'm doing the drums, a bass guitar track, an electric guitar track, and the vocal.

The guitar effect is similar to the Hendrix original but the guitar is much cleaner and thinner. His was balls to the wall thick as a brick vintage marshall.

This would be the version when Hendrix did too much acid and said "this is what happens when space and time collide" and then dropped his strat on the floor and left the stage.....except he probably even then played it better than I am doing on this.

I'm losing my chops but it is what it is. Maybe if I keep on with all this blues guitar wankin' I will get back in playing trim

*crap*
I just realized that I cut the end of this song off when exporting the file...Oh well, I guess I will fix it on the remix.

Cool job.
There are so many damn different versions of this song, even from the man himself, that deviations from the original are forgiven.
:D

You mentioned losing your chops Well, that may be so, but a man with lousy chops won't, and can't, pull this song off.

You did it.

The tone to me is a bit more reminiscent of Buddy Guy.

Cheers, man.
:D

:) Sounds very nice. Great blues riffs, regardless of what you believe about them...
Something just a bit ear fatiguing about the tone...metallic tone somewhere, man I'm bad with numbers, but I'll guess 2.5-4k? maybe lower.

Man I loved this thing!! I think what comes across is the sort of "live" feel to it and as if it was recorded on a stage in the 60's. That may be what you feel gives it a sort of fatiguing tone......but I think it's cool as it is. With cans you can "see" the sound stage clearly. I wouldn't change a thing. If your chops are rusty I don't hear that!! My 2 cents.

I agree about the ear fatigue....its in the high notes of the guitar. I'm gonna try and tweak it out. Thanks

thanks Mickster.
Well, I still have some chops but I have to think about what I'm playing. I can't just close my eyes, get in the zone, and flow off the top of my head like I used to.
It's from not playing much guitar....I'm out of playing trim.

You broke the rules on EQ'ing the guitar, but you got away with it almost. Somebody else here got away with that recently on a punk mix also. I'm impressed. You guys are fearless or foolish. Yours hurts more though lol :D

Wow Jimi. Great vocals and playing. I like the guitar tone, reminded me of Albert Collins. What guitar and amp are you using? If you're looking for a critique the bass and drums could be tighter together in places.

Pretty cool Jimi but the reverb makes the guitar sound like it's in a different room to the bass n drums.
