Red Book Compliant CD?

I know I can burn direct to CD from Reaper, but never have - I render to stereo 16 bit files, then use Roxio Creator to burn the audio CDs - easy to set up burn speed, silence between tracks, song order. However, I am not sure that audio CDs that Roxio produces are Red Book compliant.

As I'm getting nearer to putting out my 2nd CD, I'm concerned that I have something compliant for the duplication service. It wasn't an issue with CD #1 as I had the mastering guy make the master CD for me.

So, if Roxio produces a Red Book CD, no problem (not sure how I can check!), but does burning from Reaper do so? If so, I need to figure out how to set track markers, between-track spaces and burn speed!

I don't know anything about Reaper, but curious if Roxio gives you the ability to enter ISRC and UPC codes for the CD? If so, it might be redbook compliant.

ISRC , UPC = ? UPC would be like bar codes? Those are (typically) assigned by the duplication house to the whole CD package, is that info in the CD itself?

At this point, I guess its moot. I've decided to use Kunaki my own cheap copies to give away/sell, and CreateSpace for Amazon placement. With Kunaki, you use their software to upload tracks from an audio CD. CreateSpace asks for a Red Book compliant CD, or you can just upload AIFF files.

Yeah, the packaging bar code. I know from experience with Wavelab Essential, you are able to enter the UPC code in the CD data. So, each song has an ISRC code and the whole CD has a UPC code. This is not the same thing as CD-Text, btw.

I have never gone through the conventional duplication process. so I don't know if a real duplication house will add the codes to your CD or not. I'm thinking they are going to duplicate whatver you send them, so you would have to put that data on the master. The Mastering Engineer would be the one to do that.

In the german recording forum, the webmaster seems to worl on that - he offers a PQ-sheet script to go with reaper as far as I understood. It is free.
