I'm using Cubase SX on an old G4 1.25 ghz osX 4.14?. 2 gig ram
During playback and recording I keep getting a progressivly louder and more intense popping and cracking noise . The noise is not being recorded but is not fun and sort of inbarrasing. I can make it stop for only a little while by opening the sound settings on the mac and changing the input/output prefrences from the EMU 0404 to the Mbox than back to the 0404. I've also tried to both raise and lower the audio buffer numbers
to no avail. If you have any idea why can be done, your help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to remember the process for increasing buffers with SX and am drawing a blank. Let me see if I did a tutorial on it...

Hmm looks like it's still going to be under Devices/Device setup... and then you need to select your hardware and search around to set the buffer (SX is pretty dang old at this point haha).

Buffers are set in samples and usually have numbers like 128,256,512, etc...

The lower you go the more it hits up your CPU and the more likely those pops and clicks are gonna mess up your shit. Increasing your buffers takes the hit off the cpu but increases your latency. If latency isn't an issue than just dime it out and have at it.

Thanks to guitargodgt

I'll try that again. I'll go up with the buffer numbers till latancy becomes obvious and see if it works. Thanks alot for your advice.
