Hi

Is there an easy way to do the following. I have a number of soft synths in my setup, and I'm running out of power to keep them all on my main imac. Is there a way to put some soft synths on to my laptop and then record to my DAW either with Midi or Audio. I already have my keyboard connected though midi to imac using a Focusrite sapphire pro 40, so I'm guessing that I might have to record with audio, taking a line out from keyboard into laptop and then an output from laptop to DAW?

Apologies if I haven't made my self clear, I'm basically just lo0king to make use of my laptop as its not being used at present, and gain a couple of more soft synths.

Thanks

When running a lot of VTSi, many people, me included. do one of two things. Freeze the track, this becomes technically a converted wave form in the background and reduces CPU usage, the second is to actually record the soft synth to another track and turn off the MIDI. Freezing the track if you have the option is the easier of the two options. But if you want to further process the sound, then recording it to a new track is the way to go.

Hope this helps.

Q: Why is your iMac struggling?

What is it's specs and how much RAM do you have in it?

David's advice is right on, but to answer your original question, you would have to send the audio out of your laptop to the DAW in your desktop.
