Recording with only one mic! (SM57).

Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing fine.

This weekend I did an experiment with my Shure SM57. I recorded a whole song, only using it (drums included).

I made a little crappy youtube video, basically for showing people that is actually me playing.

It would help me a lot if you guys tell me what you think about it. Tips, reviews, comments will all be welcome, as I'm kind of a beginner in this thing.

(My own review to the recording is...it got a little bit thin, compared to the original...but I really dont think I would ever be able to pull that off with a single mic, lol)

Oh, I forgot to say...I used almost only EQ and as little compression as possible...really not a fan of editing the hell out of a mix.

And the last thing...as you'll be able to see in the video...I recorded the whole thing at home...hahahaha.

PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL;
Shure SM57.

Drums sound pretty good for a 1-mic setup.
How'd you do the guitar and bass? I can't see the setup there.

The vox are a bit pitchy; that's probably something to work on for the next one.

The only problem with drums, was the floor tom. But I really almost didnt used it...

Forgot the setup for guitars/bass...sorry:
-Fender mexican Strat 07' through a Fender Blues JR III
-Phoenix Bass (really crappy, brazilian brand, I guess) is direct.

And about the vocals...yeah, I'm really not much of a good singer...and Dave Grohl's pitch troubles me...but I really like this song, haha.

The guitar amp mic, was basically pointed to the center of the speaker at about a foot away.
