Hello Im new here and new to recording. I have a sterling st-55 condenser mic and ive been trying to recording but i have to have my amp very low to have it not sound choppy and overtake the signal and make that fuzzy white noise sound. Im using a cheap little tascam interface. Any pointers or suggetions things i can do so that i can turn up my amp so i can get better tone out of it without it getting choppy? Thanks in advance.

Makes a fuzzy white noise sound like the mic cant handle the volume. I baught it for $200 new so im guessing im just doing something wrong along the lines somewhere

Do you have a live speaker at the same time as your recording?

If you mean feedback form the amp no its not feedback. I dont have a live speaker just the amp and im using headphones to monitor the sound. Im relativley well rounded at knowing my amps and guitars so its nothing to do with the amp its the way im recording wich i can say I know nothing about

Could very well be a defective microphone ..... go back to the store and try it out there and if it is still the same issue trade it back in for a good one.

What levels are you recording at? I'm not familiar with your interface, and you haven't mentioned what you're recording to, but tell us the levels.

Does your mic record a voice correctly? - is it just amped guitar that causes the problem?

Could very well be exceeding the SPL ..... back the mic off a few feet from the amp. If this is the case.

I did this, It doesnt seem to make much of a difference. Must be something wrong with mic, thank's for your guy's help
