Hi. I just purchased a firewire 410 for recording to my laptop. Unfortunatley it only has two inputs. I was wondering how i could record my drums (4 inputs) with this. I also thought about getting a Behringer UB802 mixer and running my bass drum into the first xlr on the firewire 410 and running everything else throught the mixer (snare, toms, overheads) and out into xlr 2 slot. Would this work. The firewire 410 also has an s/pdif input on the back. Would that come in handy to me. Thanks.

afaik, the 802 only has 2 xlr inputs.. if u want u could mix that down to a stereo track.. and pan the kick hard left and cymbals, toms, snare hard right ... if u want to seperate the kick drum then record in mono..

Hi. I am having a little trouble understanding what you mean. I am kinda new to the recording thing. I would put the kick in the firwire 410 xlr input 1, then put the snare in the mixer channel 1, the toms in channel 2, overheads in channel 3/4. Then go out from the mixer to xlr 2 on the firewire. I was thinking bout recording then playing back through the mixer to fine tune each channel then record all together.
