Recording with an Aureal Vortex SQ1500 Quad PCI Sound Card

Hey. I am recording using an Aureal Vortex SQ1500 Quad PCI Sound Card. I am using Cakewalk pro 8. When I record my guitar in cakewalk through my Mesa Boogie DC-3 I don't get very high quality sound. Is it the sound card or what? thanks.

It could be any number of things.

Are you micing up? If so, it could be your mic.

If you're DIing then your recording will probably sound awful, particularly if you are using distortion.

It's possible that you are being let down by the mic preamp in your card, if you are using it (not familiar with you card).

Try doing a search if I haven't addressed your question.
