would it be better to just mic the room with 4 mics and use our amps ( rather than the pa speakers ) or run all lines in and be able to mic the drums with one mic and if so where is the best spot for one drum mic.

ps: i am dumb

hi there senator ,
well this is a very common question and goes back to how do you record using a 4 track.. what sort of a recording medium are you using?? 4 track , pc , ????? i presume , by the sounds of it, 4 track .. Try looking up some old posts on 4 track recording techniques as i havent had much experience with tape.. But theres some cool little techniques to bounce tracks , even with analogue ... trick is to keep the quality . So u obviously have a pc .... u have a sound card ?? what sort of 4 track (if im correct in guessing) ?? See if u can dump tracks off the 4 track onto your pc , get some cheap recording software ... i think ntrax is cheap.. From what ive heard people do cool stuff with a soundblaster live soundcard so ask around... At least that way u will be able to utilize 4 mics for your drum take..... plus tracks become unlimited , well kinda anyway ....
hope that helped ...
