Hi,
I have a Shure microphone (dynamic, cardioid) which works well plugged into a guitar amp, but when I connect it into the computer sound card the sound is barely audible.
I've been told that I need a preamp.
I think I posted a messege here on this forum already a few weeks ago, telling you I'm an agnorant (I still am), so don't be too hard on me for what I am about to ask lol
My question is: what would happen if I used a guitar amp instead of a mic preamp to be able to record in my computer? (mic-guitar amp-sound card line in instead of mic-preamp-soundcard line in)
would anything blow up? could I get electrocuted? is it a bad idea?

oh, I have another question: if a bought a condenser mic I wouldn't need a preamp?

Please, I need someone to help me with this. I've been reading a lot but the only solutions I can find cost money, that I don't have a lot. So I'm trying to find a way I can record without spending too much
Thanks a lot in advance

You won't get electrocuted.

If you have a line out on your guitar amp, you can do what you suggest. Otherwise unh-unh.

Hi,
Thanks for your replies!
That Behringer seems nice.... I've been looking but the cheapest I could find was the Audio Buddy. This one's cheaper and it seems of really good quality. Thanks!
My guitar amp has 1 input and the others are: "8 min. ext. spkr." and "head phones", would any of that work? (it is a Fender amp)

You could run the headphone out to the soundcard line in but it will sound like a glass jar full of bees. Do Not use the 8 min ext spkr because that is a power amp out and it will toast your soundcard.

Ok, so I see it is not a good idea...
I think I'll go for that little Behringer then
Thanks a lot!
