Recording voicemail from cell phone to computer?

I cant figure it out, but is there a way to connect the cell phone to the pc so i can record voicemail? I have a 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adapter, but connecting that to the line in on my computer doesnt do anything. is a hands free headset necessary? please help, thanks.

Well I don't kno what would work, but I do know why what you tried didn't. That connector on the phone carries both an in and an out signal, not just out. You would have to isolate the wires that the signal to the speaker in the earpiece uses. Then you would have to see if that is anything close to usable by a regular computer input.
