Hi,I am new at this so this so please bare with me. I have been recording my vocals through my sterio on karaoke,using cd music and my voice. I am looking to get a better effect,of course,but have no idea what type of equipment to use???? Is there anything I can use that is affordable,and that will make recordings with just my voice and music from other sources?
Thanx....

You can start out with a four track digital or analog four track.

thanx hixmix,I just asked the "local" music dealer that question and he said a 4 track wouldnt work for just vocals????? can I plug my sterio into the 4 track for music?
thanx again :)

You say your serious about recording ok!
Hixmix suggested a 4-track ,so do I.
Look for a used one ,try e-bay.com some good deals on 4 tracks.

You can record your cd's on the 4-track, then add your vocals, and mix them together.

Youll need a cassette deck for mixdown.
Maybe you can use your karaoke machine,depends on the quality your lookin for.

Later on get a good mic, and a reverb unit.

hi, dollparts;
I'd like to suggest the Tascam Porta Studio 05 series of 4-track recorders - they start at $150 - $200 brand new (which I reccommend to used equipment, unless you know what to check). Go to the web site www.musiciansfriend.com and look around, as this is where I bought my 8-track for a very
reasonable price. I hope this was of help to
you.

I have no idea what your "local" music dealer means by "a four track wouldn't work for just vocals". You can record just about anything you want on a four track. Either he misunderstood your question or he was trying to sell you way more than you need.

Thanx everyone :) I am going to go try to find a 4 track,I had a feeling I could use one but wanted to make sure! I will let you all know what happens,thanx again,hopefully I will be able to help someone with something as soon as I figure it out myself :)
Thanx again,much appreciated.....
