No. You can scream very very loudly into the pickups of an electric guitar, or use headphones or a small speaker as is they were mics.

no no no....actually, if you get a can...punch a small hole in the can...place a string into the can and then run the string directly into the little hole on your tape deck, record player, or any electronic device, then you can speak into the can it viola....

But it can't be any can...must be van de camps pork and beans can....for best results....eat the beans first and viola...a little later and your stomach becomes an instrument also...

God Bless and post your results in the MP3 clinic...

NOV SCHMOZ KA POP?

If anyone knows from whence these words come, I will award a prize.

Not the name of the mic you will need! [a hint]

Wait until Midiman releases the "brain DI SPDIF interface". Then get the surgery and plug your brain directly into your soundcard. Imagine - you wouldn't even have to SING anymore!:D

Check with Sweetnubs. He is pro and I'm sure he doesn't use microphones.

SMOKEY STOVER

Yo ANALOGELECTRIC:

Damn, Man, You are Right!

I never thought anyone would know about the ancient Smokey Stover comic.

Prize:

If you have any kids in school, 8th grade and up, one of my English Textbooks is yours.

Send snail mail address to me via E-mail and I'll mail you a copy.

If you have no kids in school, you can pass the text on to someone who has.

Or, you can have an original cut of my anti-telemarketing tape I made in my studio. Words by me: Music = From Carmen. You can transpose it to your answering machine.

Green Hornet:D :D

If I want to do video conference, but don't have any webcam, is there any software installed to turn my monitor into one ? To be just staring at it, and it will capture my image ?

...and I hope it works on Windows XP for free...:D

Yo, Dragon, they're being mean to you, which is cruel, because this is a newbies forum. I'm sorry, but the answer is yes (DUH!). The recording of vocals requires a mic. Now I do pray for the day I can have a transducer with a 1/8" mini jack installed in my throat so I can just go direct into a pro vocal with no bleed, but it might be a few years before the technology becomes available.
Don't give up asking questions because a few people didn't read the part that says they won't laugh at your questions. Your questions will get answered, really-Richie

No. A microphone is used for really small transmissions. Much smaller than the human voice.

What you are looking for is a megaphone.

However, if you are just capturing the voice at speaking level, then what you want is a telephone.

To transmit sweetnubs clearly, you will need a dictaphone.

For oral transmissions, you will want a headphone.

Cy

Yo Cyrokk:

Pretty clever words. You must be an English teacher, like me.

Green Hornet:D :D :D

Cy and Richie

Cy - dictaphone? can't you use your fingers like everybody else?

and on a more serious note, to Richie -

Richie - go back to Dragon's post and check out how many posts he has. Now, I'm just some southern cracker, but it sho' do look to me like he's employing _sarcasm_ in his post.

much like _I_ just did.

Well hush my mouth, most exalted housepig. Why , it must have been his inspired imitation of a clueless newbie that got me, instead of a clueless 1K member wasting bandwidth on a newbie forum. Thanks for pointing out my carelessness, oinker.-Richie

Richie -

I owe you an apology - I shouldn't have been sarcastic.

I've been spending too much time in the Recording Techniques thread, and the whole "Sweetnubs" thing has rubbed off on me.

please excuse the outburst.

I still maintain, however, that Cyrokk needs to use his fingers to dial, and not use my Dictaphone.
