recording vocals to software sequencer

Once I have recorded my sounds in digital audio from my keyboard synth to my software sequencer what do I need to do to add vocals? I assume I'd need a good microphone. What else would I need to add effects to the vocals? Can the vocals just be recorded right onto the sequencer in digital audio along with the synth sounds?

I dont think you can do what you think you can do. You need a program that records sounds, not just midi commands. What are you using now?
