Recording Trouble Need Help!!

Ok, so I'm running a Behrninger 1202 mixer into my line in on my crappy sound card and the recording levels are good on the mixer but then nothing is showing up on sound forge 6.0. If I turn up the gain really loud on the mixer then I will get barely audible farting noises but nothing at all what I'm trying to record. I reloaded sound forge and it's still doing it, so I'm guessing its not that. Everything worked just fine last week, and help?

Why is it that when something doesn't work right on a computer, people always go leaping over checking the obvious and re-install the software, sometimes multiple times? (shakes head)

It sounds to me that either your cable from mixer to soundcard fell out, or the soundcard controls have been set to disable the line input for recording. I guess it's also possible the input got destroyed somehow, like from plugging the speaker output of a guitar amp into it...

Do you know how to check whether the line in is enabled or not? Here's a write-up at Cakewalk's site that explains how to use the generic Windows mixer, which most (if not all) consumer soundcards use:
