Recording Telephone Conversations

Does anyone know if and how I can get my mic to work properly when using it as a telephone on my computer. I can hear the person I'm calling clearly, but the person can't hear me. Does anyone have any suggestions...(besides using a regular Phone!).

Yes I can Hear myself, but all the person on the other end of the line can hear is static.
 
Would that be listed in line input devices? If so there's nothing there, so you may be right. The mic is connected to the sound card and like I said before I can hear myself, but the other party can't hear me. Can you elaborate a little further on the port issue.

what program and sound card are you using? check your duplex settings.

I'm using a turtle beach Sant Cruz sound card and the modem is full duplex. I'm using windows 98 telephone dialer and window 98 sound recorder.
