Hey, if you guys could help me it would mean A LOT to me..

I have had a few years of experience with a program called FL Studio, I've learnt a little bit so I have a bit of knowledge.

Please listen to the guitar at the start of this song. LINK

HOW DOES THE GUITAR SOUND AMAZING!? This was a home recorded song btw..

If you are a super professional recorder and can pick up how he makes the guitar sound like this, (e.g. recording techniques, plugins, etc) and if you could tell me that would seriously make my day!!

I've usually tried to find answers myself but I'm gonna see if asking is better :)

REALLY HOPE you can help!!!

Thanks,

John.

Gave you a link. :)

It sounds like it is quite squashed with compression. Possibly recorded with Mid Side technique and chorus or some type of pitch shift effect. Does not sound like a doubled track to me, unless the guitar player is amazingly accurate. Sums to mono well, so likely not a 'copy/paste/delay' thing going on there.

HAHA, dude, I know your pain. I've always loved Adam Young's acoustic guitar sound on all of his recordings since Ocean Eyes (and of course Sky Sailing).

I used to think it was a MIDI instrument because it just sounded so CLEAN and similar on all of his recordings. But yeah, two things that are probably big contributing factors to the sound is heaps of compression (tweak with this settings until it's nice and smooth) and a nice guitar that kinda has that TONE already.

Cheers. =]
