Hey, whenever I record my guitar on the audiophile 2496 soundcard in cool edit, the sound quality isn't what I expected.

I'm going Guitar >> Boss Metal Zone >> Input to the audiophile .

Should I be recording the guitar with an actual MIC instead of going directly in the audiophile soundcard?

Sorry, I'm a recording noob and any advice is more then welcome.

thanks

I wouldnt think that the metal zone pedal would be a great choice for a DI box. Even a cheap pc mic would probably give you better results.

Im not a fan of that pedal, but anyway I would recomend always mic'ing. It gives it a "live" feel vs having a "stale" feel if straight in.
With that being said I go straight in :D I have a Line 6 Flextone III that has mic modeling so its sounds mic'd even though its not. Its great for gigging. But for the most part mic'ing is the way to go
