Hi Guys

I'm a layman when it comes to recording but I need to record some spoken word vocals, I have a Shure SM57, Behringer V amp2 and a M-audio mobilepre usb, is this gonna be sufficient?

If not can anyone recommend so CHEAP equipment?

If it is enough to record how do I set it up, I can get the preamp going on the behringer but I can't get anything from the m-audio mobilepre usb...even after everything is plugged in where it should be (i think)

Thanks in advance

Hi there,
The behringer vamp 2, as I understand it, is a guitar amp modeller and effects unit.
I'd leave that out of the chain.

Your SM57 and mobilepre USB are certainly sufficient for recorded speech.
You will probably want to get a foam ball or pop filter for the microphone, though, to prevent or reduce plosives.

If you had the mic plugged into the vamp, I guess you used an XLR to jack cable - That's no good.

All you need is 57 - Xlr to Xlr cable - mobile pre - usb cable - computer.

Once that's set up, open your recording software and make sure the mobilepre is the chosen device for audio input and output.
Create a new track, set the input to 1 (assuming you plug the XLR into 1), record arm the track and set the gain to a suitable level on your mobile pre.

Hope that helps.

Definitely remember to get a cheap pop filter. A little hint is that Amazon has some real cheap ones. Sh, its a secret. :thumbs up:
