Recording Software?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone could help me... I'm not looking for anything high tech, I just wanna play around, have some fun.

I am a vocalist, and I have a pretty good mic for my comp, I was wondering if there's a software, that I can loop music that's already on the computer (like my performance tracks I use in competition, etc.) and then record my vocal over the top of that?

It seems all the software I find are for creating music, not really for vocalists...

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

a tracking program (like Cubase or Cakewalk or Pro Tools or...) will have the ability to record music, and play it back in loops. If you're thinking of using Reason or Fruityloops it'll be hard, but I think there's a way to do it. Try using an actual recording program, not a looper.

Audacity and Kristal are both freeware and good for audio. Audacity is a good wave editor and can do basic multitracking. Kristal is a more complete multitrack program and can use VST plugins. Both do looping on playback. I'd guess Audacity might take an hour to learn the basics of; Kristal might take 4 hrs.
