For starters,
If you've been searching for the perfect computer program to record with but you've not found anything within your price range, check out Audacity. As part of the open source movement, Audacity is a recording/editing program that can run professional tasks and has a few cool effects. You can customize your list of effects as well, especially if you run a Linux or Unix system. The best part about Audacity is that it is free! It records up to 16 tracks, and, with the right hardware, it can record up to sixteen channels at once! Once a track/channel is recorded, it can then be edited, equalized, modified, cut, pasted... basicly, it does whatever you want! Note that without the right equipment, it cannot work. For instance, the microphone I am currently using... Audacity can be found at Source Forge. The easiest way to find it is to run it through a Google search.
