recording records to cds

Okay, so my grandad died a couple months ago and left us with over a 1000 records, so naturally I got the job or putting all the albums on cds. I bought a Crosley recorder and when I recorded it onto the cd it only put 1 track on the whole cd for all the songs. It plays them all but you have to listen to the whole cd to get to what ever song it is that you may want to hear. Is there a solution?
 
So do you know how I can have more tracks on the cd or are you just being curious?
 
Thank You Mr. Jimmys69!!! I read through that thread and even if I can't do it hopefully I will be able to have a computer savy friend come and solve my problems. I am now listening to a record on "how to develop the power of enthusiasm" pretty sweet! He had some very random albums but until I get to the good stuff I am recording a lot of the blah ones so I can get use to using this thing. Thanks again.
 
No problem. I would do it for ya if it were only a couple albums, but 1000 is a seriously time consuming project you have ahead of you!
 
Did some Google searching for you. Roxio CD Spin Doctor 6 seems to be one of the easier software's to use for your purpose. It is a $39 download.

No doubt man - and real time - 1000 albums that are what? average of say 40 minutes? 40,000 minutes = 666 hours! Uh Oh! It's the Devil

ok 666 hours - plus the time to process each one in Audacity.. So we say you get real good at it and can do one album in 5 minutes - plus the set up and take down another 5 minutes, so really we are looking at 50 minutes per album. 50000 minutes = 833 hours!

That's about 34 days straight if you don't sleep or eat.

More realistically if you spend 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, it will take you about a year.

That - is why I asked you why you were doing it...

Don't bother with anything on coloured vinyl...
 
Thank you all for your help; however, I figured out how to do it on this awesome Crosley converter. Apparently all I have to do is after ever track is over you press the stop button and it burns that tract to the cd right then and then when it is finished burning that track you start the process all over again. It doesn't help that much if you don't know the music but I successfully burnt the steve miller band greatest hits in less than an hour. So it is looking a little more promising, as for the Donna Fargo and Charlie Pride probably not going to be so easy or for that matter probably torture. Thanks again guys!

my guess is that a lot of the records in this collection are old 78s and swing-era stuff that still isn't widely available digitally. other than that, yeah its a complete waste of time.

Or in your case, I think vinyl is probably whats for dinner :D
