Can someone guide me on how to record with direct effects on vocals or instruments in protools 7.4? If its even possible. I'd like to be able to hear them on the vocals while I'm recording, not after processing.

Sorry to be such a newb. Thanks

So you just wanna be able to hear the effects of inserts whilst recording?

Just put an insert in on that track...

If specifically you want to record the effects of the inserts as you're recording, you'd need to set up the audio to come into an aux channel, and then route the output of that aux to a bus, then route the output of that bus to the input of an audio track.

I wouldn't recommend doing the latter though as you will not then record a clean version of the audio.

HTH.

Or...

you could...

1. Set up a Aux channel for your vocals
2. place all the effects your computer can muster on the inserts
3. then be happy as can be while you here all of the effects on your vocals in 'real time" while you record

almost forgot

if you dont know how to setup an aux buss let me tell you ;)

1. set the output of your audio track to a buss track (any buss will do) *quick tip- if you right click on the button of your output buss track you can name it from there*

2. on your newly created aux track set the input of it as what you set your output for your audio track.

3. and then the tricky part...doing this as habit for all your audio tracks lol mainly becaus you can put all the effects you would you for similar tracks on this 1 aux track and not all across your mixer tracks. basically in a nut shell you can buss all your audio tracks to this 1 aux track and save untold processing power.
