I am doing music now where maybe half the tracks will be done in Propellerheads Reason and the rest will be regular guitar and vocal tracks...Im using delta logic now, the one that came with the delta 66 soundcard. I dont really find it that intuitive but i supose i can deal with that. However I dont know how to succesfully transfer the midi tracks from Reason in Logic...I can export each track as audio and paste it into logic but this is very tedious and not very cool.

So I think i need to use Rewire somehow....if so what is the best recording and sequencing program to use? I primarily want easy editing and sequencing...Im not too concerned with effects or complex scoring or anything like that....so any advice would be great.

Thanks

Does this begginers version of logic not allow you to import midi files??? If not, dump propellarhead and upgrade to Logic silver or Gold. Good program for midi and audio.

Maybe I am doing it wrong, but when I attempt to import the midi file it doesnt use the reason instruments to play the file but rather the sampled instruments contained in the delta logic program which sound completely different....I ll see what I can do, though thanks

a midi file won't select a sound source. you have to repatch once you've exported it...rewire is definitely the way to go.....i was thinking that sonar 2.0 should have rewire support....but then i found this freebie , and started messing with it.

works with fruity loops 3.4....should work with SONAR and a current VST adapter, but i haven't tried this yet....of course , it should work seamlessly in Logic or the Cubase family.

Rewire is the way to go. Logic supports Rewire 1.0 from Logic v. 4.7.3 I believe. However, Rewire 2.0 is what you want, as it gives you much more control over Reason in your sequencer. Rewire 1.0 basically just sync's the two together, where as 2.0 means you can play the reason tracks from within your sequencer. Logic 5 supports rewire 2.0, as does the latest version of Cubase.

I browsed through Nuendo manual and remember seing some language about how nicely it integrates with Reason. In fact there was a description of a pluin, jointly developed by Steinberg and Propellerhead.

of course, the big question is whether Delta Logic supports Rewire ....my guess is that they left this feature out because it is so cool..

yeah, Webstop, steinberg and propellerheads used to be real buddies....steinberg used to distribute propellerhead software, but now Midiman is their disributor. however, propellerhead stuff is still geared towards the ASIO platform developed by steinberg.

I know that Micrologic doesn't support rewire, but silver does. If you can upgrade delta logic to v 4.7.3 then it may work, but I have a feeling that it's closest to Micrologic, so it probably won't.
