recording problems

I usually just mic a small guitar amp, and record one track at a time on acid 3.0.drum machine,bass,then guitar.I mixed a track a few days ago, now i dont have any record volume(i cant turn it up or down on the volume settings)i can still hear my mic though the speakers,but on acid........ it's like its showing but not giving a good reading on the volume mixer....i hope i havnt fried my sound card??

Post any follow ups here .... instead of hi-jacking someone else's thread.
It tends to add confusion as to whats being asked and whats being answered by whom and for whom.

What soundcard do you have?
Explain in detail what all you do when you record.
