I have no idea what happen to my first post?

Hello,

I tried recording with N-track for the first time since reinstalling my OS and downloading the latest 24bit version.

I can only record in mono, even then I don't get to monitor my input. If I try to record in either stereo setting I get a metronome like clip that totally distorts the signal.

I also cannot hear input while in playback mode. Input monitoring is fine when recording/playback are not clicked.

I check preferences and can't see anything out of the ordinary. In audio devices wavmapper was the default. I tried selecting another setting to no avail.

What up with this?

Update!

Hello,

Well I tried recording a stereo track from a CD with my wav editor. It worked perfectly so it doesn't seem to be a soundcard problem.

I guess I'll try a reinstall of Ntrack. I have version 3.1.4 so I guess I'll try the latest.

I have an email to Flavio and will wait to see if he has anything for me.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

rusty, I don't remember what system you are running or what drivers you are using, but if you have the option, try selecting 24bit left justified in the recording preferences.

Hiya Rusty, long time no C.

What's up with you?

Oh I see, problems again? (j/k)

You still using the Lynx?

And this problem has happened when you've upgraded n-Track? When you 'record' from a CD the signal doesn't visit your soundcard at all. It is 'Digitally' grabbed from the CD 99% of the time. So it might be the soundcard settings.

Try the soundcard drivers, and try reinstalling DirectX or upgrade the DirectX version. Also run through Audio settings in Control Panel with a toothcomb. What OS are you on now?

Hey Sangram,

Been doing really well actually. I just got fed up with ME. It just got really screwy and I'm really not sure why, could have been many things, but XP is so much smoother. Added a second HD (IDE) and decided to go all the way and get a clean install of all my programs.

As with any upgrade like this there have been some problems but you will be the first to get the update.

I installed the latest version of Ntrack and made a setting change in my soundcard mixer digital format from AES/EBu to S/DIF. I wish I knew why?..... but everything is working now.

I am still having a little trouble navigating around XP you know the "can't teach an old dog new tricks" syndrome at work here.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE HOOKED WHEN YOUR GENERAL DEMEANOR IN DETERMINED BY HOW WELL YOUR MULTITRACK SOFTWARE IS PERFORMING.

Good to hear from you!
