I having a problem with cubase recording late. For example, I'll record a verse and double up that play back fine. Then I'll record a hook and it comes in late. Why would this be happening? Like I said it records fine for a few takes and then it gets off and no matter how many times I retake the part, it's not on point like it should be. I have adjusted my sample rates and latency values. Any suggestions???

It's a tipycal latency problem, and a bad pc set and tuning for audio apply.

Tell me wich type of pc..set..and audio card.

me too

I have this same problem when using Nuendo.

COmputer is:

XP1800
360 megs SDRAM
40 GIG HD (7200)
AUdiophile Card.

I dont get this problem when I use Cool Edit Pro but with Nuendo I get lag. Ill record a track and then I'll go to put down another track and then when I'm done I go to playback and my second track is behind by like a 1/4 of a second. I dont know if there are settings in Nuendo I need to change to fix latency but this isn't a problem in cool edit pro. I know my computer isnt the best but I shouldnt have these problems.

Anyone?

Are you using ASIO Drivers in Nuendo (I thought you were using Cubase ) ?

What buffer size do you have the audiophile card set to ?

Im using Nuendo. THe original person that posted is using Cubase. I dont think I was using my ASIO drivers. I'm farily new to recording and to the Audiophile so maybe that was my problem. Right now my buffer size is set to 512. Should I set it up higher? Should I check teh box that says "use window default for MME? Thanks for your help.

Asio set up is only very important after a few set up that you have to make on the windows program.
So now leave asio setting as this and try some correction in windows.

Try to make all point that are very important, attention when you make modification...very attention.
So only after making this...you will have a music pc professional
setting and try to found correct latence.

Sorry Vedder, my bad.

Not totally familiar with Nuendo, but I do know that the larger your buffer size the larger your latency will be. You can test your system by trying larger buffer sizes, but with your RAM size a larger buffer may be needed.

hmm, hope this helps

okay, this helped for me. i adjusted my driver settings under, devices, device setup, vst multitrack. pick ASIO DIRECT X FULL DUPLEX. that seemed to work for me with a pro card and also for my friend with his soundblaster. it saves a lot of time from having to slide the tracks over until the or where they need to be.
