I think this problem is more with the cubasis that came with the o4o4 soundcard. My sound card is installed and I have a behringer mixer going to the in's of the card and the out's are going to a stereo reciever and speakers.
I get sound when all is hooked up and running, but I can't record. I click on the record button and it starts clicking like a metranome but when I play it back I get nothing. This has to be something simple. Any suggestions?

I have the same system and it took me a long time to get a handle on... especially the PatchMix software... bugs the crap out of me that they don't supply any manual or instruction on how to use it! Anyway, you'll want to check two things- first, in cubasis, check the "VST Inputs" (thats what i think its called) and make sure that all the inputs have green lights on them... by default, they're off, so you have to turn them on. In PatchMix, go to the in channels, right click on an empty space, and input "asio out" or "direct monitor"... this tells PatchMix to send the signal out to your monitors as well as to any recording software you may have. I'd give you more precise answers if i had the software, but my soundcard is in repair and i currently don't have cubasis installed on my system. If all else fails, read the manuals on cubasis and the emu card through... they should be installed on your HD.

Best of luck

There is a Patchmix Manual. It is part of the install Cd. I printed mine out. Its like 80 pages but very helpful

In Patchmix make sure you have a channel going OUT for you audio.
I usually just select 44-48 multitrack and then save this as my "main setup".
