I have an Alesis SR18 drum machine. I use the Alesis in a live setting. I only use the pre-set patterns at this time. I would like to record the patterns in order of my song list so that I don't have to take the time between songs to set up the next pattern. Can this be done? If so, how do I go about it.

Just need to record the output to a DAW. Edit the desired spacing, then play live with an MP3 player, laptop or whatever.

It does tie you into your set list order though... if that's not a constraint for you.

Many moons ago before everything got 'putery I used cassettes with recorded drum machine, bass and the occasional extra guitar or harmony in live work... that was a PITA (wasn't my idea, it was the other guy...) because there was just nothing you could do about the order, and you had to be careful about stopping at all.

But yes it's possible. It might be better to do it via some type of live computer based sequencer, however, that has a decent GUI...
