Recording onto a laptop

I just wanted to know what the best way to record onto a laptop would be.... either through USB of firewire, preferably something with at least 8 inputs, with recording drums... any help woudl be appreciated, thanks.

For 8 inputs you either need a firewire or cardbus solution.
For instance something like a MOTU 828 (firewire), MOTU 896 (with 8 preamps) or an RME multiface with cardbus interface.

Well, I think the Echo product has "proven" itself and is the best choice. Besides, I have only 2 usb2.0 slots and I dont want to give up my usb to edirol's 1000.

Edirol UA-1000 has no track history..... too new.
