Recording multiple tracks in succession

I've layed down a track and i want to record a solo over a certain part. Is there a feature that allows the track to repeat x amount of times, each time recording onto a new track?

I had a search on google but couldn't find much, and the help on the application didn't really help me... maybe i'm just alittle thick. hehe

The closest thing I can find (In Adobe Audition - not sure about earlier Cool Edit versions) is "Punch In" with the "Allow Multiple Takes" options enabled. This does not rewind automatically but does allow you to get multiple takes of the same track.

Even though it is intended for punch ins, you could just do the first take and then set the punch in/out times to cover the entire track.

so you want the software to play through the selected area while you record your solo to a new track. Then, at the end of the selected area you want it to start back at the beginning of the selected area, and record your solo again to a new track? And all of this with out manually stopping and starting? I think you are out of luck my friend...

You can actually do this in Cakewalk Sonar

Too bad i guess. Thanks for answering my questions though.

Actually i just thought of a workaround...

instead of looping the track, just duplicate it x amount of times and just record all of them in one track.

You can actually do this in Cakewalk Sonar

I have never used Sonar. I guess its possible in AA but I have never heard of it. Iv been wrong before...
