First up, sorry for the long post. I've already made mistakes buying and selling a bunch of stuff and I'm hoping that my next purchase will stay with me for awhile...

I have been using a Boss BR-600 to record practice sessions and stuff but the more I get into this I'm finding that I'd like to be able to record and especially edit on my PC. I have a licensed copy of Reaper and Jamstix but I need an audio interface that will allow me to do guitar, bass and vox. I tried the original MBox a while back but I didn't really like that. I probably could have learned to deal with the latency better but I got annoyed with it and ended up selling it. I have a PODxtl for guitar and bass but I'd really like to leave that in the basement hooked to the PA so monitoring with VST amp sim plug-in's would be cool if it didn't cost me too much latency. I'm thinking about looking for something like a small dedicated mixer that I can leave connected to my PC with mic pre-amps +48v phantom power and some type of link to the PC and my studio monitors. I have a nice pair of M-Audio BX8's that aren't even hooked up to my PC at the moment! I end up listening to stuff through el cheapo computer speakers half the time. So does anyone have any ideas??? Is there some type of small mixer that I could hook to my PC for recording / monitoring? I really only need a few inputs. Good mic preamps XLR and Hi-Z 1/4" inputs would be nice. If I have to use a DI box / POD or whatever that's okay but I'm really leaning towards recording dry and using VST plug-ins for effects and such.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rich

Well there are Quite a few Interfaces that Fit your set of Credentials....

If you are looking for an actual Mixer that you can also connect to your PC and record each Channel seperately then maybe look at the Alesis MultiMix FW 8/12/16 (it comes in 8ch ,12ch ,16ch Flavors, and don"t get the USB version)

You could also look at a Presonus Firebox or Firepod...

I personally use a Delta 44 and a Delta 1010lt which gives me 12 analoge inputs and 2 Digital Inputs ,Midi in/out and wordclock....they don"t have Built in mic preamps but I have several standalone preamps of different Flavors.....

Cheers

:D

Thanks for the help. A local guy has a used firepod that I'm thinking about picking up. Seems like Presonus gets pretty good reviews around here!
