Recording Live Show To G4?

Ok, our band has a show at a place that will let us plug into their sound board on Thursday, and we were hoping to do this with my Mac G4 laptop. Does anyone know if i can just get one of those RCA (this is what we were told from some radom person at the club) plug (left and right) and get an adapter that goes into 1/8" plug to go into my G4 insert? This "sounds" like it could work. anyone know for sure? also, could i just use any recording software for this?

I wouldn't expect too much from the 1/8 jack on a G4 laptop (ibook or power book). If you plan to do this more than once or you are looking for better quality, you really need a firewire or usb interface.
