I might be recording keyboards with my Tascam 424 mkII, . .and I was wondering what the easiest way to record Keyboards. . .Will I have to record the keyboards in Stereo, . or can I record them in Mono, . . and is there a way to record the keyboards using only one Track on the 424, . . or is it best to use a sub-mixer when recording keyboards . . ?

Sorry for the really stupid questions, . just never had an opportunity to record keyboards before. . . Thanks in advance guys!

Usually the left output on a keyboard is also a mono output if only one out is used. Years ago I recorded keys on my 424 that way and they sounded fine. :D Dave

Yo Studio-tub-man:

You will get a better and stronger keyboard sound if you run the mono 1/4 inch plug from the keyboard into a mic pre. I do this rather than using the mic pres on my 2816--as usual, the pres on the on-board recorder are not as good. Maybe something will be new in 2006? Who gnus?
