I have a Audiobox USB connected to a Macbook. My mic is a MXL 992, and my software is Logix Express.

Through my headphones (monitor) it sounds like I'm recording stereo. When starting the file I selected stereo, but the playback is only coming through the left side. On screen it looks like its only recording on the top side of the track.

If I switch the mic input from 1 to 2, then it plays back on the right side and shows up in the bottom of the track on screen.

Any ideas? It was working well not to long ago.

Thanks,
Tim

Actually, if it's only playing on 1 side, that's stereo playback. If it were mono playback, it would be in the middle unless you panned it.

Stereo is 2 signals. 2 channels. Left and right. What you are describing is 1 signal going into 1 channel, and nothing going into the other. The stereo is reflecting this by playing back as such.

1 mic input is 1 single source, and therefore is a mono source.

If you are recording a single mono source to a stereo track, what you have described is what will happen. There is really no need for you to record it in stereo. Record it to a mono track. It a single source, so it only needs a single channel.

If you really want to record it to a stereo file, you will need to have the same signal going in a left as a right. That would basically involve a splitter to split the signal from your source to go into mic inputs 1 and 2. There really is no point in doing this however, it's just a waste of hard drive space.

Simply put, if your souce only has 1 single mono output, record it to a mono track. If it has 2 (left and right) outputs, maybe record to a stereo track. Personally though, I'd record a 2 signal source to 2 mono tracks for the extra versatility.
