Hi,
I'm using cooledit and US122....I was wondering how come whenever I record it only writes into the left side. Is there a way to set it in cooledit so that when I sing into the microphone it writes on both side?

You want to make sure Cooledit is setup to record a MONO track, not a stereo one.

check the cool edit forum on this board. There's a box under the recording tab (audio in) for each track that lets you select LEFT, RIGHT or STEREO aswell as the bitrate

Yea I've seen that tab before...what should I select tho? I don't wanna select LEFT cuz that's going to record on the LEFT and I don't want RIGHT cuz that does the RIGHT and since I'm not suppose to record as STEREO ... I'm not sure what to select now.

You most likely are using the built-in soundcard, right? And you are plugging a stereo 1/8" plug (two black lines on the plug) into the line in. Am I correct so far? That plug contains TWO signals, but since the microphone is only one signal, it is only coming into ONE of the inputs of the soundcard, either the left or the right. So select whichever one of those gets your vocals recorded into a MONO track. Good luck!

Yes I'm using a build in soundcard, but I don't think I'm using a 1/8" plug...because with the US122 its a direct USB plug from my US122 to my computer's USB plug.

The Tascam 122 IS a soundcard. Audio interface/soundcard, same thing. You are not ( or shouldnt be) having anything to do with the soundcard that came with the computer if you have the Tascam. :)

Opps my bad...didn't know that = ). Thx now I know
