when I try to record a guitar track...everything is getting directed to my left speaker...i checked the balances and the pans and everything is set to center but I am getting nothing from my right speaker..either when I'm recording or during playback...can anyone help?

What sound card are you using?

I'm guessing you are plugging the input of the guitar into a left channel and when recording recording a stereo track, hence the guitar in the left channel.

That would be my guess too. Are you connecting to the Line In port on your sound card?

When you record, select "<Insert Your Sound Card Here> Left" as the input setting for the track. See if that doesn't clear up the problem.

yes...I am plugged into the line in port of my soundblaster live 5.1 sound card....you think i should try to record mono left to fix the problem??

The Line In is a stereo input connection. Your guitar is a mono source. Connecting a mono source to your Line In, you will only get a signal in the left channel.

Selecting the Left Input as the your input source will give you a mono recording which will then be panned center.
