Okay I just wanted to know what are some good effects to add to my chorus when I record tracks, or do most pro's just overdubb the hook and do it that way.

Not sure if i understand your question but it really depends on the sound you are going for in the hook and the overall arrangement. You could overdub, add reverb, chourus, limit, compress the list goes on and on it really boils down to what you are trying to accomplish.

Fyre, This is how I do it and everyone that I have done this technique on likes it even some of the pro's I will do 3 seperate takes of the hook pan one hard left one pan hard right and the other one not panned at all. Turn the 2 that are panned down some but have the one that's not panned turned up the loudest and then just mix the other 2 in to sound good with it.

thanks that was the simple answer to any question I've gotten on this board so far. ;)

What I usually like to do with rap, is have them rap, and them rap a double track that is as close to possible as the first. Pan the second a little either right or left. Then get them to rap a third track. And on that track it should be just highlighting certain words. To either bring out certain content, or ryhtmic accentation. Pan that a little to the opposite of the double track.

No effect will ever make a rap track sound as full and thick as repeated doubling, by a good rapper.

Oh and I did forget one thing depending on the hook if it is a crunk hook then I also do what In Tune said and get them to do a ad lib on the hook and it will highlight the key words.

for fullness try recording the rap twice. and then set one of the two tracks just off from the other by a few milliseconds. its a bit of experimentation to get right.
also recently i had some do a vocal noise into the hand in synch with the beat. the combination of the vocal noises in time with the beat was quite interesting. i added a tiny bit of chorus to the vocal noises in certainplaces.

Sorry if i came across as being mean before... i was just stating that with rap it depends on the hook.

For example; what if its a singing hook and a rapping verse? If its just a straight rap i'd go with what In Tune Audio said.

If it's a singing hook i might build a Wall of sound with the Background Vocals panned hard left, hard right with a little reverb added and brought down in the mix
Then I would bring up the main Vocal track.

It depends on the style your are shooting for.

Hope this helps...

sorry bout the retaliation then I just dont like when people bash rap artist because I real as though we are artist. Though a lot of it is just bullshit.

thankx tho all of your tech. will be used trust me i need as much help as possible.
